Merseysider David Draper, 37, was perhaps a little more than surprised after he saw a four-year-old boy key his car on his CCTV system. But he was nevertheless seriously non-plussed by the situation.

The boy in question keyed Draper's vehicle in Pinehurst Avenue, Waterloo, in broad daylight, according to the Liverpool Echo.

Mr Draper said to the Echo: “A young boy scratched my car in the street and was seemingly allowed to do so.

"I don’t know who they are.

"I knocked on the doors of my neighbours and have discovered their cars have also been damaged as well.

“I’m hoping I’ll be able to just paint over it but it’s still damaged. I don’t recognise the older boy or any of the children.

“I’ve lived here for five years, it’s a nice area. Nothing like this has happened before.”

The CCTV footage shows several other children with the young boy.

The boy, who trails the group, is seen glancing around before applying the key to the vehicle's bodywork.

Having one's car 'keyed' is a frustrating experience – not least because it can be done in a matter of seconds and costs a significant amount of money to repair.

The story has certainly hit a nerve with many UK motorists, having been shared nearly 500 times from the Mirror website alone.
