If you are planning a short road trip in Europe this temporary single trip breakdown cover option may be the best for your needs.
Annual European vehicle breakdown cover
However, if you are planning to use your vehicle in Europe more than once in a twelve month period, or you wish to travel for more than 31 consecutive days our Four or Five Star Annual Breakdown Cover may be better suited for you.
Our Four and Five Star breakdown cover options include annual European breakdown cover, which will provide breakdown cover abroad for your vehicle for up to 90 days per trip.
Upgrade your current policy to include European breakdown cover
Existing customers can upgrade their breakdown policy to get a Four or Five Star annual policy with breakdown cover for Europe online via the Customer Lounge.

- If you lose or break your keys we will recover you back to the operator’s base or your home if closer.

Short term European cover (European breakdown cover single trip) covers the vehicle in which you are travelling in the Territorial Limits (UK) or Territorial Limits (Europe).
The Territorial Limits (UK) include Great Britain, Northern Ireland and for non-residents the Isle of Man.
The Territorial Limits (Europe) contains the following European Countries: Andorra, Austria, Balearics, Belgium, Bulgaria, Canary Isles, Corsica, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Gibraltar, Greece, Guernsey, Hungary, Italy, Jersey, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Monaco, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Republic of Ireland, Romania, San Marino, Sardinia, Serbia, Sicily, Slovak Republic, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and Vatican City.
What vehicles can be covered on a European breakdown cover policy?
Start Rescue’s European breakdown cover will provide European breakdown insurance for cars or motorbikes under 10 years of age.
Can I get help if I've broken down in Europe without cover?
If you're broken down now and need European road assistance but don't have cover with us, we may be able to help.
Call us on 0044 1206 785 999 to see if we are able to provide a quote for one-off European breakdown assistance.
Please be aware, the cost is likely to be more than our regular European breakdown assistance cover.
Will it be more expensive to buy new vehicle parts in Europe?
It is possible that vehicle parts may cost more in your current destination that in the UK. It is also possible that parts may not be readily available in order to undertake a repair of your vehicle
Where it is more efficient and cost effective to do so, we will pay the reasonable cost of shipping replacement parts to the repairing garage within the territorial limits (Europe).
What documents do I need to carry when driving abroad?
Please ensure you carry your driving licence and V5C registration document with you during your journey.
Due to local regulations and customs, you may be required to provide copies of your driving licence or V5C registration document. You will be held liable for any costs incurred if copies of your driving licence or V5C registration document are not immediately available.
Driving regulations in Europe
Please also check for any additional documentation and/or equipment that you may be required to store in your vehicle as the rules and regulations of the highways for each country you travel to may differ.

Since my contract with Start doesn't begin until next week it's a bit premature to be writing a review of the company. All I can say is that it was very easy to set things up and I sincerely hope that I will need to call on their service as often as I did my last breakdown company - once in 8 years.
