What is ‘Emergency Cost’?
The cost of an emergency is something that quickly comes in to focus once the emergency itself has been dealt with. Although you may have Home Emergency Cover with startrescue.co.uk, you will probably still want to be sure what exactly is covered in your insurance.

Will I have to pay the contractor?
The cost of the contractor will be paid by us, up to the amount shown on your policy schedule. However, before you pay out anything you must contact us for approval. If we do decide that it is best for you to find alternative accommodation for a night you will need to pay for this and claim it back.
What if my boiler can’t be fixed?
Your boiler works hard over the year to heat your home and provide hot water, which can put a lot of stress on your main heating system. Unfortunately, boilers do breakdown and it will always happen at an inconvenient time. Our approved heating engineers will try their best to get the boiler up and running again, but sometimes it may not be able to be safely repaired.
Our Gold and Platinum cover levels include cover for your home’s main central heating system, which will include your gas boiler. If you have a boiler emergency and our approved contractor believes the boiler to be beyond economic repair, we will pay up to £250 towards the cost of a replacement boiler.
Do I need to service my boiler regularly?
We always recommend that you service your boiler on a regular basis. Not only does your boiler provide the warmth to your radiators on a cold winter night, but it also delivers hot water for your morning shower. Over cold periods your boiler is under a lot of strain and a boiler that hasn’t been serviced is more likely to suffer because of it.
In fact, if you have a Gold or Platinum level of cover you must provide us with evidence that you have had your boiler serviced in the last 12 months. However, our Platinum cover includes an annual boiler service carried out by an approved heating engineer, to ensure your gas central heating boiler is working as it should.
