Three-car abomination gives new meaning to the phrase ‘going for a spin’

Q: How do you double the value of a Lada?

A: Fill it with petrol.

While former Lada owners may nod sagely at this old joke, one group of Russian petrol heads have dreamt up a new way to give the Lada ‘brand value’: by turning three of them into a giant fidget spinner.

Mechanics at Novosibirsk-based Garage 54 cut three Lada Samaras in half and welded the front ends together.

Now, it seems, Ladas can’t even go in a straight line.

This monster has been filmed spinning around in a rather dangerous fashion – but arguably without the grace of a real fidget spinner.

Revving in a cloud of smoke, it’s possible that the three-car abomination didn’t match expectations, although the mechanics certainly seemed to enjoy the stunt.

The team said: “You saw it yourself. It looks like a real spinner. We didn’t get the crazy spinning, as the cars started to break down.

“But still we managed to drive three cars at once.”

‘Drive’ in this case seems to be a highly subjective term.

Incredibly, the three cars didn't come apart under the strain, but were later disassembled in preparation for the group's next stunt.

The mechanics' YouTube channel has attracted more than 700,000 subscribers. One of their other well-known exploits involved welding two cars together facing opposite directions. Still more effective, some might say, than your un-modified Lada.
