 1) Security & Control
  • Wash your hands regularly for the recommended 20 seconds
  • Keep surfaces clean
  • Make or keep a routine, making a list if that’s helpful.
2) Attention, Community & Emotional Connection
  • While you may not be able to meet up with friends and family during the pandemic, stay in touch via phone
  • Consider video-calling and group conversations
3) Privacy
  • Those isolated in a house full of friends and family should agree a space where you can be alone.
  • Avoid media outlets and second-hand sources of information which sensationalise. Anything which drives up worry compromises the immune system.
4) Achievement, Meaning & Purpose
  • Use extra time doing something you enjoy – be it reading, gardening, cooking or writing. Now could be the time to consider new hobbies - consider online courses, for example.
Mind, the mental health charity, is offering online information & support for those worried about the virus and their mental health.
