A startrescue.co.uk story...

A new, longer trailer for the forthcoming James Bond film Spectre has been released, giving us a better idea about the plot – and about James Bond's transport situation.

Despite so many previous escapades resulting in the destruction of expensive sports cars, Bond is given a futuristic-looking Aston Martin by Q in the latest film.

And aside from being extremely fast, this Aston Martin DB10 – built especially for the film – has been fitted with a handy flamethrower feature.

In the new trailer we can see Bond's finger reaching for a 'BACKFIRE' switch, which engulfs a pursuing enemy Jaguar C-X75 in flames – thus presumably concluding the high octane car chase through the streets of night-time Rome.

Gadget boffin Q is seen handing over the new DB10 Aston Martin towards the beginning of the trailer:

"Magnificent, isn't she?" says Q. "Zero to sixty in 3.2 seconds. A few little tricks up her sleeve."

But apart from the impressive acceleration rate and the flamethrower functionality, we will have to wait until October to see what other tricks are up this car's impressive sleeve.

10 versions of the DB10 have been built for the film. The car is not expected to enter production but does hint at the design direction Aston Martin may take in the future.

The 24th official Bond outing focuses on a criminal organisation known as Spectre, which hasn't appeared in the franchise since Diamonds Are Forever in 1971. The new film also features the theme from 1969's On Her Majesty’s Secret Service.

Spectre is released in the UK on 26 October on the same night as the world premiere in London. The film will be released globally on 6 November.
