One Indian Lamborghini Gallardo owner was left fuming a few days ago, after a valet crashed their expensive machine into a wall outside Le Meridien hotel in New Delhi.

While the valet may have been working for a five-star hotel, his service did not live up to the billing.

Surveillance cameras caught the moment that the car was driven at speed in front of the hotel entrance, as well as the following moment when it crashed into a wall. Thankfully, no one was hurt in the incident, but the Italian supercar did miss one of the valet’s fellow workers very narrowly indeed.

The damage caused to the vehicle amounted to the eye-watering six digit figure of £196,000 – lets hope they had fully comprehensive insurance and breakdown cover!

A police case has been opened against both the valet - who sustained minor injuries - and the hotel by the supercar's owner.

Many will wonder how such an incident could have happened. Did the valet mistake the accelerator for the brake pedal?

No doubt the valet would have faced some serious questions on his return from hospital.

On the plus side, at least the owner now knows that his Gallardo can indeed hit 62mph in 3.7 seconds – something that would usually be impossible to prove on the congested streets of the India capital.

Indeed, the Meriden’s forecourt is probably the only surface in Delhi that would provide the requisite clearance for such a low-driving machine!
