Personal Breakdown Cover
We offer personal breakdown cover policies that range from one star to three star. Personal breakdown cover policies mean that you are always in safe hands with startrescue.co.uk, no matter who's car you're traveling in.
What Exactly Do these Breakdown Policy Terms Mean?
When choosing what breakdown cover you need, it's helpful to understand what the various breakdown policy terms mean:
Call us out as many times as you need to, we’re here whenever you need us.
(*if you have the same reoccurring issue with your vehicle, you must have this checked, see policy terms and conditions).
We will send help to the scene of the breakdown, which occurs within the UK and is more than a quarter of a mile radius away from your home address.
If in the opinion of the recovery operator, they are unable to repair the vehicle within 60 minutes at the roadside, we will arrange for the vehicle, you and the passengers to be recovered to the nearest suitable garage which is able to undertake the repair or a destination of your choice, within 10 miles from the scene of the breakdown.
If in the opinion of the recovery operator, your vehicle can not be fixed at the roadside or at a local garage on the same day, we will arrange for you and the passengers to be recovered to your home or if you would prefer and it is closer, your original destination.
Drain and flush up to the value of £250, including up to 10 litres of correct fuel.
Your vehicle will be covered at your registered home address or within a quarter of a mile radius of your home address.
If your vehicle is involved in an accident rendering it immobile or illegal we will transport your vehicle in accordance with the terms of the policy you have purchased.
If our Recovery Operator is unable to repair your vehicle within the same working day or a period agreed by you and our Rescue Coordinator, we will pay up to £250.00 (maximum) towards the reasonable cost of alternative transport or a hire vehicle up to 1600cc, to allow you to complete your original journey.
We will also pay up to £150.00 within the UK, towards the reasonable cost of alternative transport for one person to return and collect the repaired vehicle. This limit is increased to £200.00 within Europe four our Four and Five Star levels of cover, for two people to return and collect the repaired vehicle.
If we decide to provide alternative accommodation within the UK, we will pay a maximum of £150.00 for a lone traveller or £75.00 per person towards the reasonable cost of overnight accommodation including breakfast for you and the passengers whilst the vehicle is being repaired. The maximum emergency overnight accommodation payment per incident is £500.00.
For European policies where breakdowns occur abroad and the vehicle cannot be repaired on the same working day, resulting in you not being able to stay at your pre-booked accommodation, the limit is increased to £150.00 per person for one night. The maximum emergency overnight accommodation payment per incident is £1000.00.
If you lose or break your keys we will pay the call out and mileage back to our recovery operator’s base or your home if closer.
If you require, we will pass on two messages to your home or place of work to let them know of your predicament and ease your worry.
In addition to roadside assistance and nationwide recovery within the UK, your vehicle will also be covered in Europe. Our four and five star breakdown policies also include pre-departure cover up to £500.00 and the reasonable cost of shipping spare parts to the repairing garage within Europe.

If your vehicle is rendered immobile due to theft or vandalism, we will recover your vehicle to your home address or nominated garage within a 5 mile radius of the home address. Should this occur whilst you are one mile or more away from your home address, we will assist with alternative transport up to the value of £1000.00 on a pay and claim basis.
If you are unable to continue your journey due to illness or injury (a medical certificate will be required), provided none of your passengers are able to drive, we will provide an alternative driver to return the vehicle to your nominated destination. If you are unable to accompany your vehicle we will provide alternative transport up to the value of £1000.00 on a pay and claim basis.
