Accident Assistance Service

Dealing with an accident can be stressful and time consuming. That’s why we’ve launched a complimentary 24/7 accident assistance service for Start Rescue customers, to help get you back on the road again.

For non-driveable vehicles, all Start Rescue customers can benefit from recovery in the event of an accident as standard. But now, if you are involved in an accident within the UK, you can take advantage of our expanded accident assistance service, even if your vehicle remains driveable.

If you’ve been in an accident that is not your fault you can choose whether to use your insurer's claims service or you may be able to take advantage of our Accident Assistance Service. If you choose to use our service, we will manage every step of your claim on your behalf.

What is an accident assistance service?

An accident assistance service provides an alternative solution to going through your insurer to handle your claim in the event of an accident. Our accident assistance service provides end to end accident management solutions from recovery to repairs and replacement hire vehicle, as well as legal assistance.

An accident assistance service takes the hassle out of you dealing with insurers, garages and car hire companies. Using an accident assistance service enables you to benefit from their expertise and understanding in claims management to process your claim following an accident – all at no extra cost!

Are there any upfront costs for using this service?

If you choose to use our accident assistance service you will not incur any upfront costs. Our accident management team will take responsibility for expenses related to the supply of a hire vehicle as well as any necessary repairs required for your damaged vehicle as a result of the accident.

What happens if I only want my vehicle recovered after an accident and don’t want to use any of the extra accident assistance services available?

You will still benefit from accident recovery as part of your Start Recue policy as standard, whether the accident was your fault or not. Our accident assistance service is an optional feature that’s available for all Start Rescue customers.

When you contact us in the event of an accident you will be asked if you wish to speak with our accident assistance team.

What if I’m not certain if I am at fault for the accident?

If you contact us in the event of an accident, you will be given the opportunity to speak with the accident assistance team. They will assess your situation and advise if they are able to provide full support, or else, what steps you should take next in relation to your accident.

How long will my claim take?

The timeframe of your claim may vary and can be impacted by a number of factors such as the case's complexity, cooperation among involved parties, parts delays, and other associated factors. You will be provided with updates
during every step of your claim.

Do I have to notify my insurer and will my insurance premium be impacted?

You may be obligated to inform your insurer for informational purposes only, as stipulated in your vehicle insurance policy terms and conditions.

Regarding the impact on your premium, insurers take various factors into account when determining rates and we are unable to provide guidance on whether the accident will result in an increase in your premium.  Any increase in premium will be no higher if you use an accident assistance service to if you were to process a claim via your insurer.
