2018 saw the public cut back on “big ticket” items like cars, but that didn't dissuade many marques from releasing some rather exciting vehicles. Among the most eye-catching were the McLaren Senna, the Audi R8 V10, Ford Mustang Bullitt and the Aston Martin DBS Superleggera.
And 2019 has yet more thrilling automotives in store. Here are five that have caught our attention.
Aston Martin Valkyrie
This spectacular looking hyper-car is sure to grab most headlines for Aston Martin this year, even if the DBX SUV is more critical for the firm's ongoing success. Aston worked alongside the Red Bull F1 team to produce the futuristic car, which features a 1,000bhp-plus hybrid power-train and high-tech aerodynamics - not forgetting a truly unique body shape.
Heading off competition from the Jaguar I-Pace and Tesla Model X, the e-tron boasts an official range of 248 miles and a 0-62mph time of 5.7sec. Audi lovers are sure to save up their pennies for this impressive-looking vehicle, which has an equally impressive price tag, starting at £71,490.
Honda Urban EV
Legoland meets Tron in the unique Honda Urban EV hatchback, whose concept model was much-praised. Reminiscent of the original Civic, it's Honda's first-ever production electric car, with hopes of knocking the Renault Zoe off its perch.
The 282-mile-per-charge Kia e-Niro will retail with price tags starting at £30,000 hoping to bring affordable electric transportation to the masses. Available from April, the boot will have a 451 litre capacity.
Koenigsegg Agera RS successor
Details are hard to come by, but the Koenigsegg Agera RS successor is sure to be an incredible car. The outgoing model could hit 277mph - so we eagerly expect something even quicker.
