Carbuyer has published its 2018 Driver Power owner satisfaction survey results, based on data from its readership who have bought new cars within the last 12 months.

The survey looked at all car brands with UK line-ups, covering nine categories which included 31 areas of day-to-day driving.

26 car marques were included in the survey, which revealed some dramatic improvements compared to last year's report - often based on the high performance of one or two models.

Carbuyer highlights the example of Range Rover, whose rankings have improved greatly thanks to the success of its updated Discovery model.

Similarly, Alfa Romeo's popular Guilia helped secure the Italian brand second place - after being completely absent from last year's survey. Giulietta, Stelvio, MiTo and 4C owners also marked the brand top for gearbox and engine - out performing Jaguar, Porsche and BMW.

Notable absentees from the top 10 are MINI (19th), Mercedes (20th), and BMW (21st).
