A startrescue.co.uk story...

Just in case BBC Worldwide wasn't making enough cash from its international Top Gear sales, they've released a "Never before seen on TV" DVD special.

It's actually the second in the Perfect Road Trip series.

This time, they've headed back to the Mediterranean to take control of a variety of supercars and super boats in the southern European sunshine.

Hammond and Clarkson get behind the wheel of a McLaren P1 and an Alfa Romeo Giulietta Spider. They also get to hoon around in some 1980s Capris – whilst on the beautiful Italian island of Capri, of course.

Hammond also does some serious damage to a shiny new Jaguar F-Type Coupe.

There appears to be plenty of boys-own style fun and of course the usual sprinkling of laddish humour; this time it seems to revolve around Hammond's inability to find Spaghetti Bolognese – anywhere.

It might not be as dramatic as getting a speeding ticket from the French police – as happened in the first DVD, but it's sure to generate a few laughs.

The most intriguing thing, however, is the absence of the third Top Gear presenter, May.

Where is he? And will Hammond ever get his dinner?

If time and money were no object, this is perhaps how most petrol heads would spend their summer break.

If you're inspired to take a similar trip, don't forget to cover yourself against breakdown with a special European policy, available from startrescue.co.uk.
