A startrescue.co.uk story...

One driver in Sutton Coldfield found themselves needing rather more than a straightforward breakdown repair service yesterday night, as their car somersaulted off the road and struck a domestic property, causing serious structural damage.

Thankfully neither the driver nor the homeowner was seriously injured. The image of the aftermath tweeted by Sutton Coldfield Fire shows how lucky both were.

The porch of the house was completely destroyed by the collision and as the tweeted image shows, the front door was lying horizontal among the debris.

The car can be seen badly damaged and lying on its side.

At around 10.30pm on Wednesday the emergency services were called to the scene where they spent an hour providing assistance.

“Both the homeowner and driver were lucky to escape this incident in Sutton Coldfield with minor injuries” said a spokesperson for the West Midlands Fire Service.

A spokeswoman for the police said they were called to the scene by the ambulance service at around 10.30pm.

The police spokeswoman said, "There were minor injuries caused to the driver.

“The driver was spoken to at the scene and enquiries into the circumstances around the collision continue.”
